Count:
Count is a measureness of fineness and coarseness of yarn.
There are two main system for the measurement of yarn count.
- Direct Count System
- Indirect Count System
Direct Count System
Direct count system is used to evaluate the count of synthetic polymer such as polyester and nylon polymer.
It is expressed as weight per unit length.
Classification of Direct Count System
i) Tex ii) Denier iii) Decitex
Indirect Count System
Indirect count system is used to evaluate the yarn count of spun cotton such as cotton and wool.
It is expressed as length per unit weight.

If one gram material draw out and its length is1000 meter the count is one tex.

If one pound of cotton material is drawn out and its length is 840 yards the count is one.
(1 hank= 840 yards)
